The CD is simply entitled David Hasselhoff and it was released in 1995. The first time I heard it, I thought it was nice but safe. The harmonies are great, the beat is uplifting but there is nothing remarkable about it. Or so I thought.Yet something enticed me to listen to it again. And again. And proved why you cant always trust first impressions.
Yes, some of the cuts are very melodic and pop sounding which is not a bad thing. At least I dont think so. But take a good listen to Save the World which features Hasselhoffs daughter Taylor Ann. (She would have been around five years old at the time). The childs voice adds a chilling pathos to lyrics that can only be heard to receive the full impact. If I could Only Say Goodbye is another tune to remember. These Lovin Eyes appears later on The Very Best of David Hasselhoff and with good reason.
I will never fully understand why the musical career of this talented artist didnt do better on this side of the ocean. In the times when I was Reviewing music, I had issues with the lack of promotion done by music companies and I wonder if that is what happened here. Because the CD David Hasselhoff shows a lot of talent and is mainstream enough, I think, that it should have appealed to many. Thats what I feel anyway.
