Program Your Computer the Right Way the First Time (Garbage In/Garbage Out)

When it comes to learning something new, think about it like creating a new software program for a computer. In this case your brain is your computer and a new song, riff or scale is the new software program.

The good news is that your brain has the ability to Playback exactly what it is given with amazing accuracy. The bad news is that your brain has the ability to Playback exactly what it is given with amazing accuracy! If you feed the information to your computer the right way the first time, it will always rePlay the correct program. From there, it will get faster and faster and you will be running the new program flawlessly. If it is fed the wrong information, or information that varies (random mistakes, sloppy technique) it will always run the program that way, cluttered and choppy. Also, it will tend to get jammed, run slow, or even crash.

So if you learn something and practice wrong notes, or practice with poor technique, your brain will think this is the correct way to Play it so it will keep on rePlaying the information this way until it is corrected. This is the way our computer works.

Now I kno w from personal experience that it can be frustrating when your home computer isnt running smoothly. Perhaps theres a virus (bad information) or a bug that is slowing it down. So take your time when learning something new, go at a comfortable pace. Some people tend to work at a fast pace. These are the visual learners. Some people may have them try to slow down so that they can learn more. I say, let your brain run at its own pace slower, medium or fast pace. Just make it a rule to make no mistakes as you are learning. That way you will gather and process the information at your own pace, while setting yourself up for stronger retention and a faster learning process.

Once your computer gets programmed properly, it will run much more efficiently. You will learn faster, get better results and reach your goals in no time!
